The first Eames lounge chair and ottoman was made by Charles and his wife Ray Eames as a gift for Billy Wilder, the director of “Some Like It Hot,” “Irma La Douce,” and “Sunset Blvd.” The heritage of the chair goes back to the molded plywood chairs pioneered by the Eames in the 1940s.

Delivery was really prompt with loads of communication. The chair and ottoman arrived in boxes to be assembled. All parts were there and it was easy to assemble other than the clip at the bottom. Really happy with the chair and has pride of place in my lounge. Leather, wood and metal legs are all good quality and fantastic value for money for iconic chair like this. Thank you.

Ordered the item on the Weds. evening,and it was delivered on Fri. lunchtime,also it was very well packaged,so no damage to goods.The leather is very good quality,and there is a swatch provided so you can see the thickness.It is a full grain leather,but I’m not sure if it’s Aniline as stated,maybe semi-aniline(ie.treated).The plywood frame is 7 layers thick and there were no splits or blemishes in the finish.The aluminium parts are of very good quality,with no sharp edges or raggedy bits on the castings.I managed to assemble the chair in about an hour,the trickiest bit being joining the back frame to the seat,but the missus helped with that.All in all I am very happy with this iconic chair,bought at a fraction of the retail price at some “high-end” stores.Lastly a word about the customer service,I was kept informed at all stages by email,about despatch time,delivery time,etc.,so I would definitely order something from this store again.
